Transfer Point Will Move from County Fair Mall to Downtown Woodland Between 5th and 6th Streets

Woodland, CA (May 7, 2026): Yolo Transportation District (YoloTD) has been awarded $1 million by the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) to support the creation of a new location for Yolobus’ Woodland transfer point. Currently located at the vacant County Fair Mall, the transfer point is a hub for Yolobus passengers who transfer between routes including the popular 42A and 42B which travel between the Sacramento International Airport, downtown Sacramento, West Sacramento, Davis, and Woodland.

YoloTD has been engaged in research and community outreach since 2018 to relocate the County Fair Mall transfer point. The new location will be on Woodland’s Main Street between 5th and 6th Streets. This move places transit closer to jobs, services, and housing while improving transit connectivity between downtown Woodland and popular regional destinations.

“We are honored to receive this grant that enables us to construct the new and improved Woodland Transfer Point at such a perfect location,” said Autumn Bernstein, Executive Director of YoloTD. “Our community outreach in Woodland showed public transit as a top concern and this is a major step toward a safer and more pleasant experience for our riders.”

YoloTD and the City of Woodland worked in close partnership to select an active, inviting location that will provide a comfortable and secure experience for Yolobus passengers. The new station will include bus shelters with real-time information, accessibility improvements for people with disabilities, secure bicycle parking, lighting, and other roadway improvements to make transit safer and more convenient.

Woodland City Councilmember and YoloTD Board Member Mayra Vega is looking forward to the move. “The Woodland Downtown Transfer Point will provide tangible benefits to our community, including having a central hub location with access to local and intercity buses, improved visibility and safety, better access to key destinations, transit reliability, and community connectivity. Local community priorities have been front and center every step of the way, and this project will improve quality of life for our residents.”

The grant is funded through SACOG’s Mobility Zones project, a six-county initiative funded by a federal Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant to advance clean, shared, and active transportation. The Mobility Zones project uses a place-based approach that centers collaboration with residents and community leaders to inform project decisions and shape local priorities.

“The Woodland Transfer Point project provides a key connection for residents of Woodland and Yolo County to the broader Sacramento region,” said Jill Gayaldo, Chair of the SACOG Board of Directors and Councilmember for the City of Rocklin. “Projects selected through the Mobility Zones process were shaped by community members, and these investments reflect neighborhood needs. We appreciate the leadership and guidance shown through this process and look forward to seeing progress on this project.”

The new transfer point will move into the construction phase in fall 2026 and is estimated to be completed by summer 2027. For more information visit https://yolotd.org/woodland-transfer-point/.
